You then preview the audio with these changes, and once you're happy you apply this to the audio either by processing it with the effect or saving it out as a new audio file. You load up the effect or plug-in you want to use, make some changes to the settings. With Sound Forge, you can process your audio with effects and plug-ins. Let's take a look at some of the new features and functions introduced in this release of Sound Forge and what this offers you as the music producer. With an audio editor you can edit a file and apply those same settings across numerous audio file in a batch process seamlessly, which would take ages in a standard DAW. So it's well suited for audio restoration, mastering and sound design as it deals with audio on a different level than your DAW, for example audio batch processing. It's more of a tool where you can edit and process audio files. You can record audio and edit audio files, but it's not like a DAW where you arrange your audio regions to form a song. It has different functions and capabilities to your standard DAW. The first thing to clear up is that Sound Forge is an Audio Editor, not a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). Let's take a look at what it has to offer. I always remember Sound Forge being the 'go-to' audio editor, but many new features have been added since I used it last. But I've been slowly creeping back to PCs to get into the PC audio applications to see what they have to offer as there are some real Windows-only 'gems', this being one of them. I've been out of the loop with Sound Forge and its previous editions as I have been an avid Mac user. I noticed a few "questionable" presets (one with a bizarre name) which I deleted from the registry.Įverything seems to work normally now and I'm hoping it stays this way.Sony have released a new version of Sound Forge, and I was very keen to check out what new functions and features it has. I bit the bullet and restored the node to get my presets back. It seems the problem has disappeared, but I've only been testing it for a few days.

I performed yet another full reinstall without that registry node. I backed up the "Presets" node then deleted it. However, Joelson_Forte supplied the answer: HKCU\Software\DirectShow\Presets. However, their location was a mystery to me. After a fresh install, adding an Audio FX plugin would offer me the same presets I created before, sometimes years before. Even with a completely clean uninstall/reinstall, Vegas leaves some things behind. OK, with that off my chest, I think I've found the solution. Sometimes I got a response that frustrates me almost more than getting no response: the sender obviously hasn't taken the time to read through previous messages and suggests something that I've already done. I sometimes had to follow up on a previous message to get a response. Very slow response between messages, typically 2-3 days. I have to say that support was disappointing. Of course, if you do a straightforward uninstall and reinstall Vegas Pro (without editing the registry) and that solves the problem, then that is a great outcome.Ī volunteer forum moderator as of. It doesn't involve uninstalling/reinstalling and it usually cleans up problem/corrupt program files that may still remain on the computer after an uninstall and thus still affect a reinstall.
The recommendation by reset Vegas Pro to its factory settings is usually the safest, quickest and most effective method of solving some problems in the first instance. If you are not familiar with editing the registry nor wanting the adventure of doing so, its probably best not to do so. To remove all of those remnants after uninstalling, please refer to (linked from item 38 in the FAQs/troubleshooting guide given earlier) but taking special note of the warnings about making alterations to the registry.
It may seem counter-intuitive, but uninstalling/reinstalling may not solve the problem because uninstalling does not remove all traces of Vegas Pro from your computer - many remnants are left both in the registry and in the folders. I think I'll just do a complete uninstall/reinstall
